Every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month, you'll have the opportunity to explore, share, ask questions, experiment, play, and practice in an intimate setting with magical sisters. The 1st Friday will be held in SE Portland, while the 3rd Friday will be held in Gladstone. The intention is to create a container where all participants can express their unique gifts and delve into creating meaningful, lasting, and authentic personal practices, so that their magic may flourish and weave naturally into everyday life.

Each gathering will start off with an "emptying of baskets" where we personally express what we've been feeling lately and what our current emotional, spiritual, and mental landscape looks like. Within this sharing we witness our sisters and learn how to be of support, comfort, encouragement, and accountability to our fellow Witches . We'll then collectively pick a magical topic or two to discuss followed by some guided instruction and exploration of said topic.

We'll deep dive into practices such as: creating rituals, spellcrafting, enchanting, grounding, clearing, protection, manifesting & visioning, altar tending, divination & scrying, working with the elements, connecting with our guides and ancestors, celebrating the turning of the wheel & seasonal practices, how to work with deities, embodiment, deepening our connections with plant, animal, and nature spirits...and much, much MORE.

  • Join us for a traditional Midsummer Eve Sauna Ritual!
Sauna for our Nordic ancestors was a holy event. This was a practice steeped with intention and reverence for the healing and purification abilities held within the sauna itself. Songs were sung, offerings were given, prayers were made, and the elements were venerated. On the eve of Midsummer (summer solstice) we will come together as our ancestors did with the intention of seeking healing for ourselves and the collective within the four walls of the sauna. We'll also turn our hearts to the sun, readying ourselves for the return Summer.

This event is co-ed and clothing optional, 18+. Modesty must be upheld when outside of the sauna or cold plunge area.

What to Expect: Upon arrival you'll meet Ida in the Lobby located through the back basement door. She'll show you where to undress and tell you how to prepare. She'll then guide you and the group through the entire sauna ritual. The ritual will include a song, offerings to the Tomte/Tontu (a gnome-like land spirit that tends to and protects the sauna), working directly with the elements, and formulating individual and collective prayers. After the ritual is complete, we'll take adequate time to rest and then enjoy some time around the fire to integrate our work together.

What is a Nordic Sauna? Nordic Sauna is a process of 15 minutes in the hot sauna (165°F - 200°F) followed by either a cold water plunge or dousing which is then repeated 2-3 more times depending on tolerance. The entire process takes approximately 75 minutes to complete. A sauna whisk made of birch, oak, or eucalyptus is used to gently beat and whisk the body to encourage circulation and blood flow while offering protection and purification. (Whisks are available for purchase when in stock)

About the Amenities: Our sauna is located in an urban backyard within the heart of Clackamas County. The sauna itself is a 10x10ft tent style sauna with cedar benches and a wood-fired stove. The cold plunge area is an open air pergola with privacy curtains containing two claw foot tubs and a shower. There are several outdoor lounging areas great for relaxing and cooling off, including a covered gazebo. Weather and seasonally permitting, we’ll have a fire going in the fire pit for our guests to enjoy.

Located inside is a welcoming lobby with plenty of storage and hooks for your belongings. There’s a half bath adjacent to the lobby (no shower available). Beyond the lobby you’ll find “The Cave”; a cozy 150 sq ft room full of ambiance that will transport you to another place and time. The cave will be open to guests who would like to lay down to rest and/or stretch during their stay. Yoga mats and props available.

How to Prepare: Please arrive recently showered and well hydrated. It’s recommended that you have at least 16oz of water prior to arrival and continue hydrating throughout your sauna session. Abstain from alcohol the day of. Eat lightly/avoid being overly full prior to sauna.

  • Swedes and many northern peoples celebrate a Summer Solstice holiday known as Midsommar (Midsummer). It’s an ancient day that is still one of Sweden's most beloved holidays, second only to Jul. The season of sun and abundance calls for celebration! Midsommar is celebrated in mid-June when school is out, and nature has burst into life. It is often the kick off for many Swede's 5 week Summer break. It is the time of the midnight sun; a time that seems like the sun will never set. In fact, in the north of Sweden, it doesn’t, and in the south, only for an hour or two.

    Midsommar Traditions:

    • Maypole: A decorated maypole (midsommarstång) is a central element of the celebration, around which people dance and sing a funny song about a little green frog.

    • Music and Dancing: Live music and folk dancing are common, often accompanied by traditional Swedish or Finnish songs.

    • Flower Crowns: Men, women and children wear handmade crowns of flowers, which are seen as a symbol of fertility and rebirth.

    • Food and Drink: Special Midsummer foods and drinks are enjoyed, often including traditional dishes like pickled herring, boiled potatoes, strawberries w/ cream, beer, and a traditional schnapps known as Akvavit.

    • Games and Activities: Various games and activities are enjoyed, especially by children, such as Nordic Kubb and other folk games.

What to Expect: This will be an outdoor celebration at Caveside Wellness. We'll begin our evening with a short lecture on the history of Midsommar followed by an opportunity to make your own flower crown, and then our first toast to kick off the remaining festivities. We'll then dance around the Maypole before enjoying our community potluck. After dinner we'll walk to the park next door to play Kubb, a Nordic lawn game with some gruesome lore. After we have some fun with games, we'll head back to spend the remainder of the evening around the fire together. The sauna will be fired up at that time for those that wish to partake. This event will be potluck & BYOB style. All ages welcome. Bring a friend or the whole family!

  • Something to Ponder: Across all cultures, there was a time when we made music for one another, moved and danced for one another, more often than not, for the sake of healing and deepening our spiritual connection. When we bring in the energy of live music and sound alongside our journey practice, we remember.

The Shamanic Sound Journey experience is an opportunity to be immersed in live music; Rhythmic drumming, rattles, bells, and vocals, with the intention of entering an altered state of consciousness known as the ‘Shamanic State of Consciousness (SSC). This meditative trance state can range from very light to very deep and anywhere in between. It can be as light as a daydream, something that we can easily snap out of, to something so deep that we temporarily step out of ordinary reality. In this journey session, we’ll drop our stories, open ourselves up to the great mystery, and allow ourselves to take a ride.

What to Expect: This practice can be done completely still, seated or lying down comfortably. Some may find that allowing rhythmic movement like rocking, jostling, or shaking can help bring you into the SSC. While this will be a floor based practice (not standing), you will be free to move through any positions that feel supportive to you and your process, ie; seated on your bum, seated on your knees, being on all fours, or laying down in any position. As in many of my classes, you have the power to choose your own adventure, and I encourage you to trust the wisdom of your body throughout this experience.

Previous Experience: While no experience is necessary, it can be helpful if you already have an existing journey or meditation practice in place. If you don’t, this may feel a bit foreign at first but with consistency, dropping in will get easier over time. Alternatively, even if this work is completely new to you, it could feel like the most natural thing you’ve ever done! You just never know until you jump in.

If you already have an active meditation or shamanic journey practice in place and you’ve never experienced these practices under the influence of live music, get ready! On a personal level, I believe there are many ways to achieve the SSC state and I ask you to trust your own intuition. I invite you to bring along any tools and techniques that already work for you in your current practice.

Itinerary: The night will start off with some gentle movement, stretching, and breathwork as we get acquainted with one another and feel into the community dynamic. The sound journey itself will last roughly an hour, leaving us with thirty minutes of group integration time to connect and share before releasing the container.

About Your Host: Ida is an American born Trollkvinna who practices the Scandinavian system of magic known as Trolldom. Her medicine is rooted in nature based connection, animism, ancestor veneration, Nordic paganism, and European folk traditions. To learn more about how you can work with Ida, visit [www.IdaCavewoman.com](http://www.idacavewoman.com/).

What to Wear: Comfortable clothing that allows full body range of motion. Layers are good for temperature fluctuations as are socks or slippers.

What to Bring: Yoga mats, blankets, and eye masks are provided. Please bring anything else you need to feel comfortable for an extended time laying on the floor such as extra padding, pillows, or bolsters. If you like to journal, bring one.
